On Thursday September 18, 2008 the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA) in partnership with Bloorview Kids Rehab presented A “Practical” Day with world-renowned speech-language pathologist, researcher, and author Dr. Mark Ylvisaker. The conference was held at the beautiful Toronto Botanical Gardens with over 200 delegates in attendance.
The day started with registration, opening remarks and breakfast which was sponsored by Neinstein Personal Injury Lawyers. Jeffrey Neinstein opened the conference by introducing his client Abu Khan. Mr. Khan addressed the audience and spoke about his accident and injuries, how he copes with living with Traumatic Brain Injury and his recovery process. Mr. Khan’s story was moving and inspirational and reminded us all about the importance of having a strong network of medical and legal resources behind accident victims so that they may concentrate solely on their recovery and not have the financial burden and worry of how they will care for themselves and their families.
Also in attendance to lend support was Abu’s case worker Galit Solomon and his wife Bibi Fireena.
