The Toronto Star reported that, California Attorney General Jerry Brown today sued 20 companies, including Mattel Inc. and Toys "R" Us, claiming they sold toys containing "unlawful quantities of lead."

Del Rey tortilla products

Children became ill in the U.S. after consuming the product and began to experience flu like symptoms. The product has been recalled.

Mexi-Snax All Natural Pico de Gallo Tortilla Chips

A food alert has been issued for this product due to the fact that the product may contain milk or milk ingredients and it is not listed on the product. Consumption of this product for people with allergies associated with milk could face serious illness.

Undeclared Milk in Uni-President Brand Red Bean Ice Bars and Red Bean & Jelly Ice Cream Bars

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a press release yesterday warning the public to avoid consumption of beef patties by the brand Compliments because the product may contain E-coli bacteria.

So far there has been one reported case of illness.

OTTAWA, November 9, 2007 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Les Fumets Sylvestre are warning the public not to consume Les Fumets Sylvestre Dried and Smoked Duck Magret because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The affected product, Les Fumets Sylvestre Dried and Smoked Duck Magret is sold in 56 g packages bearing the UPC 6 96437 40423 0, lot code 270 10 and various Best Before dates (below the lot code). This product has been distributed in Quebec.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with this bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness. Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Infected pregnant women may experience only a mild, flu-like illness, however, infections during pregnancy can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.

The manufacturer, Les Fumets Sylvestre, Ste-Marguerite, Quebec, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

Skimways "Skippy" Pool Toy, Health Canada reported that the elastic tongue of the fish can break and forcefully come out and cut the users' hands during launching of the toy. There have been individuals injured in the United States and Canada.
